Ages 3-6

Our Primary program serves children ages 3 to 6 in carefully prepared Montessori classrooms designed to support rapid growth in independence, confidence, and curiosity. Most classes are mixed age, allowing younger children to learn from older peers while older students build leadership and responsibility.
Children learn through hands on Montessori materials and meaningful choices throughout the day, guided by Montessori trained teachers. The curriculum includes Practical Life, Language, Mathematics, Science, Art, Music, Geography, and History, connecting learning to real life experiences.
Primary follows the traditional three year Montessori cycle. Due to licensing requirements, our kindergarten class is in a separate classroom and is the only non mixed age grouping in the school. Kindergarten is the capstone year of Primary, offering a new level of responsibility and academics while maintaining the warm environment children love and providing a strong foundation for reading and the transition into Elementary. Maple Corner Montessori’s Primary program follows a traditional nine month school year calendar, with the option for summer care.
Our classrooms are designed to feel calm, welcoming, and familiar, offering children a sense of comfort and belonging. Thoughtfully prepared spaces support independence while providing the emotional security young children need to explore, take risks, and build confidence.
Children learn through purposeful, hands on Montessori materials that invite exploration and discovery. These materials are carefully sequenced and self correcting, allowing children to engage deeply and develop concentration, coordination, and problem solving skills.
Each child progresses according to their individual readiness rather than a fixed timeline. Teachers observe closely and introduce lessons when a child is developmentally prepared, honoring natural curiosity and fostering a lifelong love of learning.
Science, geography, and history are woven naturally into the daily classroom experience through stories, experiments, cultural studies, and real world connections. This integrated approach helps children understand their place in the world and builds a strong foundation for curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking.
The capstone year of the Montessori Primary experience

Our Kindergarten program represents the culmination of a child’s Primary years and is designed to honor both their growing independence and academic readiness. As the only non mixed age classroom in the school, kindergarten provides a focused environment that meets licensing requirements while supporting children as they step into leadership roles and increased responsibility.
Academically, this year places a strong emphasis on reading, writing, and foundational mathematics, laying the groundwork for a confident transition into Elementary. At the same time, the classroom maintains the warm, supportive Montessori environment children know and love, ensuring they feel secure as they take on new challenges, deepen their skills, and develop pride in their work.
