The Maple Corner Middle School experience empowers students to reach their own personal potential and develop the confidence and capabilities to positively impact their world.
Maple Corner Middle School is a continuation of our school philosophy that is rooted in Montessori practice, while robustly preparing students for high school academics. Our passionate teachers create a culture of confidence, growth and curiosity as they engage students in a wide variety of discussions, projects, and hands-on experiments that make learning come alive.
In addition to a rich study of history and the humanities, students master a variety of writing techniques as they find their own voices and learn to express themselves with clarity and precision.
In math, the foundation of deep understanding built on the Montessori math materials now becomes more abstract as we focus on critical thinking, problem solving, and building a strong algebraic foundation. Students are especially challenged to apply their knowledge to real-life problems and challenges.
Science study is enriched with investigations in both the laboratory and the field to foster questioning minds and independent thinking.
Most importantly, we want our students to develop a life-long love of learning and the intrinsic motivation to pursue knowledge.
Maple Corner’s emphasis on personal growth is a natural extension of the grace and courtesy lessons introduced in the earlier years of our Montessori program. Because Montessori education thrives on deep connections between teachers and students, among peers, and across subject areas, students enter middle school already practiced in respectful communication, collaboration, and self-advocacy. Our teachers know students well from year to year, allowing them to respond thoughtfully to both academic and social needs, whether a child is ready for greater challenge or needs additional support. This strong relational foundation ensures that each student is truly known and supported as a valued member of the learning community. As a result, Maple Corner Middle School classrooms are characterized by kindness, curiosity, and mutual respect, creating a warm, engaging environment where teachers can focus on rich instruction and students can fully immerse themselves in learning.
Middle schoolers at Maple Corner Montessori benefit from unique leadership opportunities as the oldest students on campus. They mentor younger children, organize service projects, and help lead school-wide events. These authentic leadership experiences cultivate confidence, communication skills, and a genuine sense of responsibility, preparing students for high school and beyond.
Students develop meaningful practical life skills such as organization, time management, financial literacy, public speaking, cooking and much more. Hands on experiences help them connect academics to real life and prepare them for increasing independence.
Learning extends beyond textbooks through projects, discussions, field trips, and interdisciplinary studies. Students engage in meaningful work that sparks curiosity, builds motivation, and helps them see learning as relevant and exciting.
