In addition to our regular classroom academics, Maple Corner also offers:

In addition to regularly scheduled local field trips, MCM offers optional overnight trips to extend classroom learning into the real world while building independence and community. Each journey is intentionally designed to build on the last, creating a progressive pathway of growth from a student’s first overnight experience to their capstone trip in Middle School.
Together, these overnight experiences form a thoughtfully sequenced journey that supports students academically, socially, and emotionally. Each trip builds independence, deepens learning, and strengthens community, preparing students not only for the next stage of school but for life beyond it. By the time students complete their final trip, they leave Maple Corner with confidence, perspective, and a clear understanding of their place in the wider world

Every other year, our 3rd and 4th graders attend OMSI Camp Grey in Newport, Oregon. This trip is close enough to home to feel accessible, yet it often provides students with their first true taste of independence. Through coastal exploration, hands on science, and community living, students build confidence as they practice responsibility away from their families in a supportive setting.

In 5th and 6th grade, students travel to Catalina Island Marine Institute off the coast of Southern California. This immersive experience combines adventure and science through activities like squid dissections, kayaking, snorkeling and marine biology study. For a few students, it is also their first time flying, adding an exciting layer of growth and independence. Students return with stronger self confidence, deeper friendships, and a deep love for the diverse nature of our world.

Our oldest students culminate their Maple Corner experience with a trip to Washington, D.C. and New York City. Students connect their studies to real places and primary experiences through museums, landmarks, and cultural exploration. This capstone trip challenges students to think critically, engage with history and government firsthand, and grow in maturity as they navigate new environments with their peers and teachers.
